Forums Rules and Guidelines
Please respect other people's feelings. It is ok to disagree with a person posting a message, but don't make it personal. No name calling.
The Cats of Australia forums are NOT a place to air one's dirty laundry. Any post which attacks or insults a person, or breeder, a cat club, either directly or by innuendo will have their post removed. Repeat offenders will be banned. We ask that you keep public gripes you may have with others off the Cats of Australia forums.
Do not use these forums to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, racist, sexually oriented, offensive to a person's religion, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law. Do not use the forums to initiate or continue hostility expressed toward any staff or member; "flaming" and "flame wars" will not be tolerated & will result in a suspension of 28 days for the first offence & a permanent ban the next time. We at Cats of Australia reserve the right to edit, modify or delete any post made in such an event.
Messages sent through the board's Private Message function cannot be monitored, but the same provisions still apply.
No representations made or advice given by Cats of Australia members, administrators or moderators should be in any way considered a diagnosis, treatment or cure for any illness or condition, either discussed or implied. Answers to questions are offered as information only and should always be used in conjunction with advice from your veterinarian. No responsibility is taken by Cats of Australia, its members, administrators or moderators, for any conceivable consequence which might be related to any answer that is freely given to questions on this site.
No posting of other people's personal information. Website addresses are fine, but please don't post other people's contact information (ie: name, e-mail, phone number).
The posting of copyrighted, trademarked, or otherwise protected material is strictly prohibited. Do not take pictures or graphics off of webpages and post them on our boards, unless you are the owner of these copyrighted items.
No flooding of the boards. Please post on a topic in one forum only.
Spammers or people posting "get rich quick" schemes will be banned on the spot.
All rules pertaining to posting etc., also apply to private messages.
No advertising or selling on any board other than For Sale & Wanted. Unless prior arrangements are made with the webmaster (Zoe), commercial business's are not permitted to advertise on Cats of Australia.
I ask that people don't just join Cats of Australia just to promote their own website/business. I have absolutely no problem with people posting links to other cat (or pet) sites, but not when the only reason they've signed up on the forums is to do so. It is very unprofessional to use another site to promote your own & this kind of behaviour will result in an instant ban. If people respect Cats of Australia, Cats of Australia will extend the same courtesy to you & your site.
Moderators & administrators are here to make these boards pleasant & safe for all members. Please listen to the administrators & moderators. If you argue with them, you will be removed. Do not insult Cats of Australia staff, if you do you will be suspended for 28 days. Second offences will result in a permanent ban. The administrator's/moderator's decision is final. Correspondence will not be entered into.
The owners, administrators, and moderators of Cats of Australia reserve both the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason, and the right to suspend or delete any user account for any reason we feel is in violation of the forum rules, both explicit and implied.
Remember that we can see your IP number, people posting anonymously when they want to cause trouble, or using multiple names WILL be found out. Repeat offenders will be banned.
Cats of Australia is not responsible for the content of any member's posts, and the views expressed on Cats of Australia are the responsibility of the posting member and not Cats of Australia. Cats of Australia does not preview member posts in any way before they appear on the site. Any link posted to a third-party internet address does not imply an endorsement of that site or its content by Cats of Australia.
Unless a member has broken the rules, Cats of Australia staff will NOT participate in a "he said/she said" discussion. If you have a problem with another member then we ask that you either try to politely sort it out via PM or e-mail, or if need be put that member on ignore, so you will not see their posts or receive PM's. It is not the role of Cats of Australia staff to take on the role of mediator.
Cats of Australia has members from every corner of the globe. We ask that members respect our cultural diversity & refrain from posting comments, judgements or jokes which could offend our international members.
You are required to supply us with a valid e-mail address to register on the forums. This address is viewable by the administrators of Cats of Australia only. Your e-mail will NEVER be passed onto a third party. Administrators & moderators are able to see your IP address. This ensures that we have more control over the forums & are able to ban members by IP address should they cause trouble. Once again, this information is not passed onto third parties.
External Links: Any links to external websites provided on Cats of Australia pages are provided as a courtesy. They should not be construed as an endorsement by Cats of Australia of the content or views of the linked materials. Cats of Australia does not in any way accept liability for information, comments, articles or advice from third party websites which are linked on this site. Cats of Australia does not exercise any editorial control over the information you may find at these locations.
Cats of Australia reserves the right to change, modify or update these rules at any time without notification. Membership in and the use of resources contained within Cats of Australia constitutes full agreement and acknowledgement of the restrictions, limitations and terms set forth in this agreement.
