Hi,
I'm after a ragdoll kitten (under 6months). Ideally free or $300max. I would get the kitten desexed, microchipped, wormed, injected, etc. I would also get pet insurance. I have had a few cats before and am great with them. I have an apartment in Hawthorn, Melbourne where two other owners have cats. The kitten would be kept indoors at all times. I am after a ragdoll as they are well suited to apartments. Many thanks, C |

Hi Chet,
I would like to suggest that you have a look around at some Breeders that appeal to you that appear to be doing the right things for their cats and kittens and then save up for a kitten from them. A kitten for free or under $300 is likely to come from an unregistered Breeder and not all of them take the precautions (ensuring they are tested against known health issues and not breeding cats that are closely related) that are needed to ensure as healthy a cat as possible for the future. I know how hard it is to save up that money for your first Ragdoll.. it took me over 2yrs to get my first Ragdoll!! When you buy from an ethical registered breeder, you get a kitten that has had all of its vet work already (close to $400 worth on its own!), then you have the ongoing support of the breeder, food and care kit to get you started as well! In the long run, this is the better way to do it. the other option is to get a retired young cat from a registered breeder, they also have all their vet work done and are between 2-5yrs old usually... and closer to your budget :) Good luck on finding your new friend... you do have terrific taste! lol -------------------- Hugs and Kitty Kisses, Terri-Ann xxx When God Created the Ragdoll Cat....He was Just Showing Off!! Aha ..another thing is yu have 300 for the kitten, then your desexing costs as well as other vet costs ..so you'll not save very much trying to do it that way .HOWEVER if you get a kitten from most registered breeders it will have had all the vet stuff done for you..and included in the price ..
It would be sad if you couldn't afford the vet stuff immediately and your new baby got sick or something.. -------------------- I could be unstoppable if I could just get started.

Hi Chet,
I know of a lady who may still have one seal boy left. She is in La Trobe Valley...so not too far from Melbourne. However, her kittens are $440, not desexed...it's unlikley you'll find one for $300 that is quality and healthy. If you would like her email address, let me know. Sarah |

Sarah There's not much point paying $440 for an undesexed cat, by the time you go to the vet and get her desexed you're paying more than going to a breeder who offers their kittens with all done before adoption. |

Yes I agree, I don't know why she isn't desexing them... I mentioned this kitten because it seemed close by to Chet and I know the lady :) |

I am only in dandenong vic and also have Ragdoll babies still for sale.
All of mine are completely vet worked, desexed, vacs, microchipped and I guarantee them against PKD & HCM for 4yrs. Mine are $700 tho, not under $300 as their vet-work alone would be about 300-400 worth alone! -------------------- Hugs and Kitty Kisses, Terri-Ann xxx When God Created the Ragdoll Cat....He was Just Showing Off!! any pnline adds (and listing a cat for sale in a forum like this), is online, needs to quote the micrchip no under the Vic DPI regulations, so the poster with the raggie X might like to add that so they aren;t breaking the law

Forgive my ignorance but does that law pertain to people who don't reside in Vic?

Kitten I was talking about sold yesterday anyway. Wondering...does this law take effect when we tell others about kittens we know a breeder has available? |

The New Vic Laws are for any person selling a dog or cat of any age, in Victoria.
This means that a microchip number HAS to be displayed if you are asking for ANY amount of money. This also means that you cannot advertise any expression of interest in anything that has already been born, only those still to be born. Once born, no advertising until they are microchipped. This also covers any personal websites! -------------------- Hugs and Kitty Kisses, Terri-Ann xxx When God Created the Ragdoll Cat....He was Just Showing Off!! I think I've found a desexed kitty for $450, which is quite fine. Thanks, Chet |

Wondering...does this law take effect when we tell others about kittens we know a breeder has available? Not to be picky... lol but i think kittenmitten might actually have been referring to the post under your original one also, I dont think that law is effective with you saying you might know a lady who has one for sale. I think it would only apply if you were full on advertsing the cat with full details??.. . I could be wrong lol i frequently am. hehe |

are those in addition to the kitten you are also offering up for free - usually someones first post on here is to introduce themselves and talk about their cats, not come on here trying to flog them off. Hope all these kittens you are offering are desexed and vaccinated, and why are you rehoming 3 kittens - are you a registered breeder?

if you are going to offer him up Simba to someone wanting a kitten when he is at least 18 months old, so clearly not a kitten, at least let the person know about his other issues, or direct them to the post where you have discussed them, it is not fair on a new owner to drop them in on this when they may not be aware they are getting a cat that has the behavioural issues you have described plus as you have indicated, has a coat that cannot be easily managed as he does not like being groomed. You have also never indicated whether he came from health tested parents, or has had all vaccinations etc, which is also something you should disclose.
No doubt you will again say I am rotten for pointing all of this out, don't care as it is relevant to the person you are offering him to who may not have checked out your other posts on this boy, and not pointing it out to them would be meaner, esp since this cat is going into a multi cat household. |

Simba I agree with kittenmitten - you can't just push your cat off to someone else given his issues without disclosure but dud you realise Chet as their kitten and this post has been dragged from May....a very old post.
