Hi, my new kitten arrived last friday and we were stoked. However after spending the first night with us we noticed he has fleas (dont get me started on the breeder, im not impressed), so we go to the pet shop, get some stuff to wash him in and gave him a bath, which he hated.

Now i have noticed fleas on him again, so he will be having another bath, but my worst fear is i think i now have them in my hair, and im horrified. I am a very clean person and the idea of fleas in my hair is just gross. I have been looking around on the internet but cant really find anything to treat my hair with, can anyone recommend anything?

I havent noticed them anywhere else around the house, so far so good.

Also as he is only 9 weeks old i cant use the spot type treatments, is there anything else anyone can recommend, its really hard to bath him as both my partner and i end up with scratches everywhere.

all assistance is greatly appreciated.

cheers

At 9 weeks you can use a spot on like Advantage. You can treat the house too but the fleas only use people to travel ..you wont be infested as such ..

I am sorry to hear you have had a bad experience with a breeder :(

I use Advantage on my kittens.. it is safe for them. I also use
it on my pregnant girls.. about 2 weeks prior to them kittening.. with
no problems..

I think.. from memory the kitten has to be 8 weeks or older.. someone
please correct me if I am wrong.. make sure you read the directions & check if there is an age limit on the container before use..

I am in Corrigin... which is not far from Kalgoorlie..and for some
reason this year we are having a big flea problem..
but Advantage is keeping them at bay.. for now.

Your little kitty is wub.gif I hope we get to see more of him soon!!!!

angelic.gif hi, your kitten is gorgeous by the way. Love the photo. At this age there is a flea collar available in local supermarkets, cut it to fit. They are made for kittens not too strong but do last at keeping the fleas away.
For your hair I can suggest teatree oil, or more effective is a nit comb called robi comb. It uses 1 x aa battery, available in chemists about 70 ollars but works everytime with nits, eggs, fleas, immediately. Never fails. Very quick and easy to use.

If you want the best seat in the house, you will have to move the cat.
