Hi all,

I am very, very happy.

My kitten should be de-sexed this week and flown down from the QLD breeder to me in Sydney.

He's about 12 weeks of age now, and I am VERY excited to meet him. I've attached the pictures of him provided to me by the breeder from a couple of weeks ago. Apparently somebody changed their mind and they offered me this little boy. Haven't spoken to the breeder but have had some e-mail correspondence and I have paid my deposit.

I've been shopping and bought all the gear and accessories EXCEPT the play/climb/scratch post/tree/furniture.

Any suggestions for climbing furniture what a British Blue Shorthair might enjoy most?

I spoke to a few local vets and picked one to take care of him.

I want to move him to the crystal kitty litter - I was told to do this gradually...

I'm also sticking to the food the breeder suggested for the time being, and it does seem like quality stuff.

I've sectioned off some quiet parts of the home to help him settle in.

I'm planning to give him a PJ top with my scent for whenever I am at work.

He'll be desexed and microchipped, vaccinated and wormed. Not PKD tested because the breeder said their origin stock don't carry it and it's impossible for the kitten to be a carrier or affected.

What else should I prepare? Am I missing important considerations?

Thanks for any advice or encouragement :)

What a sweetie.  Congratulations on your new baby. I would certainly start with the food & litter the breeder is using & then gradually change if that is what you want to do.  I would certainly have him in his own little space until he becomes used to where everything is & so he knows where his food & more especially his litter is.  Please keep us posted & share your photos.

Thank you very much, Muffy. For the kind words, and the advice! The breeder has contacted me and confirmed the date he'll be desexed and fly down. She suggested the same things re: a few days in a cool, confined and quiet space. I've asked for a new photo... the ones I shared were a few weeks ago now. She hasn't sent me another yet but will share if/when she does.

Thanks again! I couldn't be more excited.

He is adorable and sounds as though he is going to have a wonderful loving home.

Please post some photos when he arrives. Do you have a name for him yet?
