5 year old Chinchilla for adoption Options

Hi,

With a very heavy heart, we have decided to rehome our furry baby.
We found out two months back that my son's chronic eczema is due to his allergy to cats. We have tried every possible way to try and keep her . But specialists at RCH have asked us to re-home her as prolonged exposure to her could ultimately mean asthma for him.

My baby girl is purebred, desexed and microchipped Chinchilla and is now 5 years old. She is a very well loved member of our family and is very good with kids. I am looking for a very special home, where she is equally loved and pampered.

Looking for someone who has an experience in long haired cats and is aware of their grooming requirements. Also I would prefer giving her to someone who is well settled so that I am assured that she can spend the rest of her life with them.

Sad to hear that you have to give her up but you do have to put the health of your son first. Have you contacted the breeder to ask for help as they maybe able to assist in helping find a new home

As Linda has suggested, hopefully you are able to get in contact with her breeder, as they will hopefully be happy to help you rehome her. Good luck and please let us know how you go

Thanks guys, I will talk to her breeder today and see if she can rehome. Though to be frank I feel sceptical to handover over to anyone not knowing where she will land up. I would rather do the due diligence so that I know that I found her the best possible home.

But I will talk to the breeder anyways. Will keep you posted.

Definitely a good idea to contact the breeder as they may be able to help. Most breeders are extremely particular as to where their cats end up and this is why most ask, and expect, to be contacted if one of their cats ever needs rehoming because the owner is unable to keep it. Many will take the cat back and find a suitable new home (something they are very well equipped to do), and are very particular regarding that new home.
Others will assist the owner with rehoming.

If (god forbid) I were ever in the same position I would contact the breeder first. I don't have any doubts that the breeder of your beautiful girl would only have her best interests at heart and wouldn't palm her off to the first person who put their hand up. Remember, she was their baby first!

My husband and I are in Perth, Western Australia and are looking for a chinchilla that needs a new home to be loved and snuggled. Your baby looks stunning, Im sorry for you that you have to part with her. If she is still looking for a new family I am interested in finding out more about her and looking into the cost of having her sent over. Im set on my baby being indoors only and affectionate. I have dogs that are friendly to cats, is she ok with dogs? Will she be ok to travel if we have her sent over? My mother has bred Ragdolls and Norwegian Forest cats and I have had extensive experience helping her with grooming and preparation for shows. We are home most of the time so we will have all the time and affection to dedicate to her.

Hi ChinchillawantedPerth,

April has never been around dogs. We have my friend's dogs visiting us from time to time and they have learnt to co-exist. If she is introduced to the dogs safely and is allowed her time to get comfortable withthem , I am sure she would be fine.
