We will be moving house in two weeks time and I was wondering if there is anything we can do when we get there to make the transition easier for them? Also I don't want them to run away... any ideas please?

Cats were worshiped as gods in ancient Egypt: they have never forgotten this!
I guess that's why they say dogs have owners: cats have staff!

Mine are indoor so no problems with them running away.

Moving day I put them in one (empty) room with litter etc. and once everything is moved take the cats to the new place.

Good luck. Some cats might need confining in the new place, mine are used to different houses and are too nosy, they like to explore

Was it very far from where you moved from your old home?  How did you cats do with the ride?  We might be moving 7 hours away and I dread that ride for them.

keep the cat in your room for a while because he will be soothed with the smell of you and your belongings.
