night and we bought them home. They were dumped at an out of the way motorbike track here in Melbourne. The mother looks young....and is caring for them all really well.

Anyway - I think the kittens are about 3 weeks old. Going by the photos, what do you all think?

All seem healthy, clear eyes, noses and bottoms. Two are quite small compared to the others.

Any tips on how to care for mum (we have called her Sunday)

Thanks!

k8

They all look very cute and well Mum is doing a good job ... What are your plans?? Perhaps get in touch with the local RSPCA and they will be able to help you with them. Mum will need to be scanned in case she already has a home and is missing.

Oh they are so sweet. A huge thanks on mum's behalf on taking her in & looking after her & her babies. No tips except with 7 babies make sure mum is well fed, which I'm sure you are doing anyway.

Hi K8star m.gif to COA

What a wonderful person you are taking in these beautiful babies & thier mum wub.gif

With 7 babies having 2 smaller ones is normal.. unless their is a huge size difference there is nothing to worry about!!!

I cannot wait to see more pikkies of them as they grow!!!

Thanks everyone for your replies and welcome.

Our plans for these kittens is to rehome them when they are about 10 weeks old. We have two families who want one and the others will go to our local vet who acts as an adoption agency. At this stage, we think we would like to keep the mum but just will see how things go. We already have a cat called Jasper - he is a large silver tabby and he is not happy at all. He has moved into our neighbours home! (Well he lives there half the time anyway) he has the best of both worlds - kids to play with when he wants here and then off to our elderly neighbour's home for quiet time!

Cheers

Kate

x.gif In my experience 7 kittens is too many for the mother cat to feed. Can I suggest you need to either supplimentary feed the littlest ones, or make sure they get a teat every time the kittens feed from the mum..
If you dont then the little ones could get sick and worst still die.

Wonderful that you rescued the mum and brood, good for you. If I was in Melbourne I would love to have taken two of the ginger kitties. I only ever have ginger kitties and I have had to PTS two of mine through cancer in the past year. I only have a 7 year old and a 23 year old ginger cats left now.

c.gif This is an old thread now, but did you manage to sterilize and re-home all the bubs?

Agree - that's a big litter! Poor little mummy cat, but lucky to have had you step in. hh.gif

Caring properly for kittens is not an easy job. Its worth investing in a good reference such as the one written by Thom Jenkins BA(Hons). He is an expert on cats large and small. More info online at Kitten Care and Behavior
