In Denmark we often has to truggle with tooth problems especialy red gums.

Would like to hear your exsperiences with that problem and how you freed yor cats and how you vac and weather you have notished a calici-outbreak in your cattery or not.

Just our own small statistics.

I struggled to place i poll in this thema. Would anyone please wipe out 3 of my 4 attemts.

Krista, I feed mine chicken necks/wings & a treat called Greenies. Not all like the chicken necks. so even something that makes them chew - ie strips of meat rather than mince should help.

We use chicken necks and large raw bones to chew, too large for them to swallow. If the vet says one of my cats has a tartar buildup the next time they go in for any procedure I get their teeth cleaned and scaled at the same time (the job has to be done under anaesthetic and I don't like to put them under just for a clean).

I've had cats that only ate dry food and had no problems with their teeth until they were over ten years old and others that mostly ate fresh food who had trouble before they were even three, so I always leave dry food out for them to snack in the belief it does help clean their teeth. It was different breeds though and I'm told bad teeth can run in a breed/bloodline so there may be a component of that also.
