Hi all,

So the other day I finally discovered where my Birman cat, Ares, is when it seems he has completely dissapeared. He has a secret passage! It leads from his garden into the garage...I would never have found it if I hadn't seen him seemingly jump into a solid wall and vanish...very tricky! [Garage is safe for him by the way, he can't get past it to the road]

So I was wondering, does anyone else's cats have secret spots that you've discovered accidently?

Another example; there is a large suitcase under my bed, because there's nothing in it the top sinks down. I found my 7month ragdoll girl, Calypso, in the sunken part, completely hidden to any outside viewers.

Quite a while ago now, not long after I had to start keeping my girls indoors, I did a head count and one was missing. Panic stations of course, and absolute puzzlement. j.gif I was being SO careful going in and out of the house, and couldn't think of a single occasional when Poppy may have slipped past me to get outside.

First of all, I searched the house from top to bottom. Calling all the while, I looked in every place that she could possibly have gotten into, onto, on top of, under, wardrobes, drawers, clothes baskets, microwave, oven (I was getting desperate - I don't even use the oven)........I only have a small two bedroom villa, so after searching for about 20 minutes I gave up.

Went outside and searched up and down the street, still calling her name.

I had to start work (I work from home), so had to give up. I have to say I was pretty upset by this time (had had a big fight with next door neighbour over the cats, feel he is unstable in regards to cats and poses a danger to mine - so naturally I don't want them to be accessible to him).

About 2 hours later I went into my bedroom to grab a hoodie as I'd gotten cold, and noticed my pillows moving slightly. Upon investigation, I found Poppy INSIDE a pillow case (I have 2 pillow cases on each side of the bed, standing more or less upright against the bed head, the front one is the one that matches the quilt cover (there is actually a name for this type of pillow case which I can't remember - let's call it "the fancy pillow case") and the back one is the plain cotton one I actually sleep on. Poppy was inside the back one - it's very private and warm I suppose (TOO damned private) - I pulled her out, carried on like a lunatic hugging and kissing her. When I put her down she had a huge stretch and gave me that "what the hell was THAT for?" look. shy.gif

It is always the first place I look for Poppy if I'm doing a head count and I can't find her, but I've only spied her there another couple of times since.

I have one of those lockup sewing cabinet/table things. My baby kittens go cuddle up inside it. They crawl in under it, and climb up inside, where the machine sits. The poor queens carry on a lot because they can't get to their babies who are blissfully sleeping...

I also 'lost' a kitten - a future queen. She cost me an arm and a leg, from interstate (as they do). She was my first breeding cat. I'd had her all of 3 days and she went 'missing'
I searched EVERYWHERE, then went outside and paced the streets frantically looking. Spend hours looking for the little devil. Gave up and phoned my husband at work, crying hysterically, telling him I'd lost this kitten and I'm going to be the worst Burmese breeder EVER.
Anyway, he came home, consoled me and then he looked. Found this dear little kitten under my baby's cot. It has a drawer under the cot, which unknown to me, could be accessed from behind the cot. I had put my baby to bed, shut the door, and NEVER thought she's have been in there. I did go check in there but she must have been camoflauged with what baby clothing she was sleeping on in the drawer.

WORST FEELING EVER!!!
