Full Version: Paw Pad Bleeding

My recently adopted 5 month old kitten has a bit of crusty bloody on her front paw pad (the dangly 'heel' pad).

I've had a go at trying to get a look at it but crazy kitteh is less than eager to stay still. I can't see an actual cut or any foreign bodies in the area and she isn't limping or even licking it to try and clean it. The only reason I noticed is because she has white legs so i noticed the difference in colour.

I was about to make up a salt water solution and give it a wipe / soak to clean off the blood from the fur around it in the hope i can see more. Should I be taking her to the vet or will a little home cleaning fix it up? I do have an older cat who got in a fight a while back and came home with a rather icky looking hole under his chin, salt water 3 times a day to keep it clean had it heal up in 3 days. Is the fact that she's only a kitten going to change her ability to heal?

Sorry, so many questions, just want to make sure I'm using the best remedy.

Hi,

I'd try the warm salt water first, and if it hasn't healed in a day or two get her to the vet. Minor injuries usually respond well to this.

The little dangly heel pad may have coped a knock in some outdoor play, so just keep an eye on it. I don't think that being a kitten will make any difference in her ability to heal.

Gizmo and Karma are seriously good looking cats, by the way!
